Sylvia Auton
Executive Vice President

Sylvia Auton was appointed Executive Vice President of Time Inc. in March 2007. In this role she oversees Time Inc.’s Lifestyle Business Unit which includes the print and digital properties of Real Simple, Cooking Light, Southern Living, This Old House, All You, Sunset, Health, and Coastal Living.  She is also Chairman of  IPC Media, a leading U.K. consumer magazine publisher, which publishes 79 magazines and a number of market-leading websites.

Auton was appointed Chairman of IPC Media in January 2009, having previously been IPC Media’s CEO for six years.  A consummate publishing professional, she joined IPC in 1977 as a marketer before moving rapidly through the publishing ranks to become a core member of the IPC management team. During her time with the company, Auton has held a number of key senior positions and, in 1998, was appointed managing director of IPC’s Country & Leisure Media division, the U.K.’s largest specialist publishing company, now known as IPC Inspire. She was part of the board team that developed the strategy and business under the Cinven-backed management buyout of IPC Media from Reed Elsevier in early 1998.

In October 2001, Auton was instrumental in the acquisition of IPC Media by Time Warner, for £1.15 billion—then the biggest transatlantic media deal ever made. Auton is a director of ultimate parent company IPC Group Limited. She is chairman of IPC Media Pension Trustee Limited, the corporate trustee of the IPC Media Pension Scheme.
