Steve Sachs
Executive Vice President, Consumer Marketing and Sales

Steve Sachs is Executive Vice President, Consumer Marketing and Sales, overseeing marketing to consumers for all Time Inc. brands, as well as direct marketing companies Synapse and QSP, retail specialist Time/Warner Retail, and book publisher Time Home Entertainment Inc.

Sachs was previously the President of the Time Inc. Lifestyle Group, which includes Real Simple, Cooking Light, All You, Southern Living, Sunset,  MyRecipes.com and MyHomeIdeas.com.  Prior to that position, Sachs was President of Real Simple, where he led the launch of the tv series Real Simple. Real Life. on TLC, as well as Real Simple-branded products sold at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond.

Under Sachs’s leadership, Real Simple was recognized as among the most innovative, successful media brands by Adweek, Mediaweek, and Brandweek, which in 2008, ranked Real Simple 2 on its list of the 10 hottest magazines, and in 2007 and 2008 ranked Real Simple #4 on its Brand Leaders list for media brands that have successfully built multi-media businesses.  In 2007, for the 6th consecutive year, Advertising Age ranked Real Simple on its list of the industry’s 10 most successful magazines.

Sachs was formerly Vice President, Consumer Marketing for People, Teen People and People en Espanol, and before that was Vice President, Consumer Marketing for Real Simple, The Parenting Group, In Style and All You.

A veteran Time Inc. executive, Sachs was a member of Real Simple’s launch team. Starting out as Consumer Marketing Director in 2000, Sachs was later promoted to Associate Publisher, Consumer Marketing & Development.

Before Real Simple’s launch, Sachs was the Marketing Director responsible for the Professional Marketing Group at Time magazine from 1997 to 2000.  From 1993 to 1997, Sachs held a number of positions at Time-Life Music, including Director of New Product Development, and oversaw the launch of 12 new music products.

Sachs was named one of MIN’s “21 Most Intriguing People” of 2008. He was also honored, along with Real Simple’s earlier Publisher and Managing Editor, in 2003 with Adweek’s first-ever “Executive Team of the Year” award. In 2005, Folio magazine named Sachs to its list of “40 Magazine Industry Innovators.”

Prior to joining Time Inc., Sachs worked for the consumer banking division of Citibank, and served as a public policy analyst for the Urban Institute, a Washington D.C.-based think tank.

Sachs is a member of the board of trustees for BAM, where he chairs the marketing committee and is a member of the executive committee.

Sachs graduated with a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and received an MBA from Stanford University.
