Our Awards and Recognition

  • Time Inc. received multiple awards at Adweek's annual Hot List. TIME took top honors as the Hottest Overall Magazine and the Hottest General Interest Magazine, PEOPLE was recognized as the Hottest Entertainment/Celebrity Magazine and Departures was honored as the Hottest Travel Magazine.
  • For Advertising Age's A-List, TIME landed in the #2 slot, while This Old House made its first-ever appearance on the list at #9. TIME's Kim Kelleher was also honored as Ad Age's Publisher of the Year.
  • Essence.com received the award for Outstanding Digital Journalism - Multimedia at the 22nd annual GLAAD Media Awards in March, 2011. It was accepted by journalist Bobbi Misick, Emil Wilbekin, managing editor of Essence.com, and Danielle and Aisha Moodie-Mills for the story "Bridal Bliss: Aisha and Danielle."
  • Three Time Inc. titles were honored with Folio Magazine's Eddie and Ozzie Awards in 2011. Sports Illustrated won in the categories for Consumer Sports Full Issue, Consumer Sports Single Article and Best Online Column or Blog. Entertainment Weekly received a gold medal and two additional nominations. Health received the silver medal for the Best Series of Articles category.

Our History

In 1922, Henry Luce and Briton Hadden, longtime friends and Yale classmates, resigned their jobs at the Baltimore News and moved to New York to begin work on the prospectus for TIME magazine. Seventy stockholders invested $85,675 to launch TIME, and the company became incorporated on November 28, 1922.
