PEOPLE Magazine Now In Greece

March 30, 2010

(Athens, March, 30, 2010) Imako Media S.A. has reached an agreement with US-based publishing company, Time Inc., to bring PEOPLE to Greece.

PEOPLE revolutionized magazine journalism in 1974 and is now the world’s most successful and popular celebrity news weekly.  Selling more than 3 million issues each week, it is the #1 magazine in advertising revenue (source: US Sales, PIB 2009).  The magazine has the largest audience of any magazine; each week, the PEOPLE brand brings 45.1 million consumers (source: US Data, MRI Fall 2009) the latest news, exclusive interviews and in-depth reporting on the most compelling people of our time.  PEOPLE is published in North America, India and Australia (where it is called WHO). From March 30, it will be published weekly in Greece.

“We’re excited to welcome Greek readers to the PEOPLE family,” says Martha Nelson, Editor of Time Inc.’s Style and Entertainment Group.  “American readers have been devoted to PEOPLE magazine for more than 35 years; Greece is our first edition outside the English language. PEOPLE is a cultural force. Our access to celebrities and our ability to bring a personal connection to news stories, teamed with our commitment to excellent, fair reporting and superior photography, set PEOPLE apart in our market. We know Greek readers will notice the difference, too.”

PEOPLE Greece’s editor, Nancy Zabetoglou, is delighted to welcome PEOPLE magazine. “Readers will appreciate PEOPLE Greece’s exclusive stories, unique topics, rich photographic material and its distinct size and layout. It will become the preferred weekly pastime of Greek readers.”

According to Takis Solomos, COO of Imako Media S.A., “The publishing experience of Imako Media S.A in combination with Imako’s human resources, compose an indisputably guarantee for the magazine’s success. “

“We are delighted to launch one of Time Inc.’s signature brands with Imako, our licensing partner in Greece, with whom we successfully publish InStyle and FORTUNE,” adds Jim Jacovides, Vice President, Licensing and Syndication.
