NME Reveals its Love for USA with Top 25 American Idols!

July 30, 2008

July 30, 2008-NME the iconic British music magazine - today unveils its favourite American music in a 'We love USA' edition.

The special issue sees NME cast an envious eye over the Atlantic to reveal a list of the 25 hottest bands in the States at the moment. The magazine concludes that a combination of the innovation of the American scene and the "Obama effect" is making America the hottest place for new music right now.

Vampire Weekend top the list, which also features the likes of Fleet Foxes, MGMT, Black Kids, Glass Candy, Amazing Baby and Boy Crisis.

NME editor Conor McNicholas says: "American Music is on a roll. This year's festival smashes have been MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Kings Of Leon. We like all music but, right now, we like American music best."

Earlier this year, Jane's Addiction were the first American band to be voted Godlike Genius by the magazine, and were on-hand to receive their honors in person at the inaugural American version of the NME Awards, held at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles in April.
