Armando Correa Named Managing Editor of People en Espanol

(New York, November 19, 2007) - Armando Correa has been named managing editor of People en Espanol, it was announced today by Time Inc. Group editor Martha Nelson. Correa succeeds Peter Castro who will assume the role of deputy managing editor, People.
Correa, a native of Cuba, began his career as the dance and theater critic at the Cuban Ministry of Culture. He became the editor of Tablas, a national theater and dance magazine based out of Havana, Cuba, in 1988. In 1991, he moved to Miami and became a staff writer at El Nuevo Herald where he profiled personalities from all walks of life including Gloria Estefan and former Peruvian president, Alberto Fujimori.
Correa joined People en Espanol during the launch in 1997 as a senior writer, and held several titles before becoming the executive editor in 2006. He will be based in Manhattan.
Castro returns to People after a year at People en Espanol where he fine-tuned the mix of the monthly magazine, bringing more news and human interest content to the editorial pages. Peter also spearheaded PeopleEnEspanol.com's editorial efforts with a redesign, making it the first bilingual online entertainment site, resulting in a 218% increase in page views year-over-year. Prior to People en Espanol, Peter spent 18 years at People, most recently serving as executive editor overseeing entertainment coverage.
Castro will continue to work closely with People en Espanol during the transition. Both Correa and Castro begin their new positions on December 3.
