August 4, 2010

New Feature Lets Users Tell Stories Through LIFE.com's Collection of 10 Million Images

New York, NY (August 4th, 2010) - Today, LIFE.com announced the launch of Timelines (www.LIFE.com/timeline), a new, user-generated feature to LIFE.com that allows individuals to contribute to the LIFE.com community and tell their stories in photos from LIFE.com archives.

Timelines tell a story - varying from a major historical event to last night's big game - in an exciting visual way, using photos from LIFE.com's collection of 10 million images. Individuals who sign up at LIFE.com will get the chance to select their own photos from the collection, place them in the order they choose, write headlines and captions and then publish their Timeline on LIFE.com to share.

"With LIFE’s legendary photo collection, users can build a Timeline to tell a story that is meaningful and fun--and then share it with friends and family," said Bill Shapiro, Managing Editor of LIFE.com.

Users who want to create a Timeline, can:

- Make a Timeline based on LIFE.com's 10 million images
- Use an easy and intuitive drag and drop interface
- Create interactive photo stories that tell a personal story, history of an event, a theme
- Choose the image you want to best represent your Timeline
- Preview any Timeline before publishing
- Write or edit a title, chose the time and date, and edit the photo caption
- Edit Timelines by adding photos, deleting, or moving stuff around
- Publish the Timeline to LIFE.com and get feedback from the community
