New Online Experience Enables Fans to Watch TV with EW Editors

Unique Platform Pegs Conversations to Shows in Real Time

(New York, NY) September 19, 2011 – EW.com America’s leading online entertainment destination, today announced “viewer,” a second screen experience co-developed by EW.com and i.TV where viewers can watch and discuss their favorite shows live with Entertainment Weekly editors and readers.  Link to viewer: http://tvrecaps.ew.com/viewer/.

Launching Monday, September 19th in conjunction with the fall TV season, viewer,  will feature 25 highly anticipated, fan favorite shows across nine major networks and allows users to engage in both real-time and time-shifted dialog with friends, fans, and Entertainment Weekly editors, creating an unparalleled, direct access to the editors readers trust for opinions, insights, and insider TV knowledge.

"TV is the most highly trafficked vertical on EW.com and the addition of viewer offers users an even richer, more robust experience.  It’s a natural extension of a very social brand and showcases Entertainment Weekly's commitment to finding progressive ways of having a dialog with readers" said Fran Hauser, President, Digital, Time Inc. Style & Entertainment and Lifestyle Groups.

"Our fans are always telling us that they wish they could hang out and watch TV with their favorite editors," said Bill Gannon, EW.com Managing Editor. "With viEWer, Entertainment Weekly and i.TV have combined forces to take the promise of social TV to the next level by empowering fans to share their television watching experience regardless of their time zone or whether they are watching a program live or from a recording on their DVR."

"We are thrilled that Entertainment Weekly is the first to utilize our new social TV platform," said i.TV CEO, Brad Pelo. "Unlike any other social TV platform, our second screen social content is anchored to the timeline of the television show itself. Now, whether you watch TV with friends, other viewers, celebrities or an authoritative editorial voice such as Entertainment Weekly, it can be a richer, more engaging experience, with your interaction and content synchronized directly with the show."

EW.com viewer launches with 25 of TV's most buzzed about premieres and anticipated returns, including: ABC "Dancing with the Stars," CBS "The Good Wife," NBC "The Sing-Off," ABC "Modern Family," CW "Ringer," NBC "Community," FOX "New Girl," and more.  Writers from Entertainment Weekly and EW.com will host show "tracks," offering insights, polls, questions, comments, and responses to users throughout the course of a program.  Additionally, users are able to click to share a track's URL with friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter to encourage others to join the conversation.
