Entertainment Weekly To Partner With GetGlue, The Leading Social Network For Entertainment
March 7, 2011
(New York, NY) March 7, 2011 - Entertainment Weekly, America’s leading consumer magazine in the entertainment category, today announced the launch of a series of rewards through a partnership with GetGlue.com, the leading social network for entertainment. Readers who check in to items featured on EW’s ‘Must List’ via GetGlue can unlock virtual and physical stickers, which in turn reward users with exclusive curated content from the editors of Entertainment Weekly.
This is the first publishing partnership for GetGlue and the first social check-in integration for Entertainment Weekly.
“We’re excited to partner with GetGlue to provide our readers with the opportunity to earn Entertainment Weekly stickers for the first time,” said Jason Wagenheim, Publisher of Entertainment Weekly. “The EW.com audience is incredibly engaged and vocal, and since GetGlue features a broad range of entertainment categories, this partnership will allow our users to further celebrate their passion for all things pop culture. It also offers a fun and unique way for GetGlue’s audience to discover our weekly ‘Must List’ recommendations of the top 10 things we love each week, which is one of EW’s most popular features.”
“We are thrilled to have Entertainment Weekly as our first publishing partner, as they truly capture our audience in the entertainment space. Entertainment Weekly is going to reward fans who follow the ‘Must List’ every week. The check-ins and stickers will provide a perfect mix for fans to stay up to date on the latest trends and to unlock exclusive rewards,” said Alex Iskold, Founder and CEO of GetGlue.
Each week fans will be able to check in to the items featured on EW’s ‘Must List’ to earn unique fan stickers, and then share with friends through Twitter and Facebook. Check-ins in consecutive weeks will unlock additional stickers. Each sticker will feature a set of unique rewards -- ‘Must See Movie List,’ ‘Best Characters of the last 20 Years‘, etc. -- hand picked by Entertainment Weekly’s editors for GetGlue fans.
