Fran Hauser Promoted To President Of Digital For Time Inc.'s Style & Entertainment And Lifestyle Groups

New York, NY, February 17, 2011 – Time Inc. veteran Fran Hauser has been named President of Digital for Time Inc.’s Style & Entertainment and Lifestyle groups, it was announced today by Time Inc. Executive Vice Presidents Paul Caine and Evelyn Webster.

In addition to her current Style & Entertainment portfolio (which includes PEOPLE, InStyle and Entertainment Weekly), Hauser will bring her highly successful operating skills to shaping and executing digital strategy for the Lifestyle Group. With the Lifestyle brands (which includes Real Simple, Southern Living and Myrecipes.com), Hauser will now oversee digital for all of the women’s brands at Time Inc.

“Fran has done an excellent job in steering the Style & Entertainment Group to its leadership position in the digital arena,” Caine said.  “Thanks to Fran, we are having notable success with our websites as well as our more than 20 products for tablets and mobile devices that, in aggregate, attract more than 25 million monthly users.  I look forward to Fran continuing her exciting work with the Style & Entertainment Group and generating the same impressive results for the Lifestyle Group.”

Besides the significant growth of the websites in her portfolio, including PEOPLE.com’s record one billion monthly page views in January, Hauser was also responsible for the Company’s expansion efforts into e-commerce with the acquisition of StyleFeeder and the launch of StyleFind. She has also been instrumental in introducing products on emerging devices and growing the Style & Entertainment Group’s social footprint to over 10 million followers on Twitter and Facebook.

About Fran Hauser

During Hauser’s two-plus years as President of Digital for the Style & Entertainment Group (“SEG”), its websites delivered strong growth across all channels.  Her initiatives included developing new products, securing large-scale distribution partnerships, identifying and closing acquisitions and adopting best-in-class social media and search engine optimization practices. 

In early 2010, Hauser led the acquisition of StyleFeeder and expanded SEG into e-commerce.  By last December, she leveraged StyleFeeder’s technology and InStyle’s editorial expertise to launch StyleFind – Time Inc.’s first stand-alone shopping site.   

Among the numerous industry honors that SEG earned during Hauser’s tenure were PEOPLE’s 2008 win for “Magazine Website of the Year” (Adweek) and MPA’s “Website of the Year: Entertainment" in 2009.   In addition, PEOPLE, InStyle and Entertainment Weekly received Ad Age Media Vanguard Awards in 2010.

In June 2009, Hauser was named one of Ad Age’s “Women to Watch”, a list of the “30 marketers, media sellers and agency executives to keep your eye on today.” She was inducted into Media Industry Newsletter’s (min) Digital Hall of Fame in May 2008. 

Before becoming President of Digital for SEG, Hauser served as President of PEOPLE Digital from 2006 to 2008.  Her career at Time Inc. began in 2003 when she was named Executive Producer, Time Inc. Interactive (TII), the centralized online publishing group, and subsequently was appointed General Manager of TII.  Prior to that, she was a Vice President of AOL’s Programming Group. 

Previously, Hauser spent four years at Moviefone in various roles.  In 1999, she was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Moviefone and AOL Movies after playing an integral role in the $400 million dollar sale of Moviefone to AOL.  She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers and has held positions at Ernst & Young and Coca-Cola Enterprises.

Hauser serves on the Board of Directors of the Online Publishers Association.  A summa cum laude graduate of Pace University, Hauser received both a BBA and MBA.
