    As part of a companywide editorial commitment, Time Inc. bought a house in Detroit where journalists, photographers and bloggers from TIME, TIME.com, Fortune, Money, CNNMoney.com, Sports Illustrated and Essence will report on all aspects of life in the city, from its massive economic challenges to the pressing social issues that plague the city. Early coverage to come from Detroit included a TIME feature on the unlikely public figures fighting for Detroit's future and a piece on CNNMoney.com on the city's efforts to keep young people from fleeing Detroit by pushing for new businesses and a revitalized downtown

  • Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit

    On September 14-16, FORTUNE held its annual Most Powerful Women Summit in Aviara , California . The Summit is the world’s premier gathering of women leaders in business, government, academia, philanthropy and the arts. The program included panel discussions and interviews with Condoleezza Rice, Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz, Avon Chairman & CEO Andrea Jung, Arianna Huffington, Warren Buffet, FDIC Chairman Sheila Blair, Tina Brown, Larry Summers, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, CNBC Anchor Maria Bartiromo and dozens of others.

  • LIFE Magazine Archives Now Available through Google Books

    More than 1,860 issues from the LIFE Archive are now available online through Google Books. The scanned issues from 1936-1972 will include the stories and images from LIFE’s renowned staff of editors and photographers including Alfred Eisenstaedt, Margaret Bourke-White and Gordon Parks . In addition to the covers, articles and photographs, readers will also be able to search and view advertisements and letters to the editor.

  • This Old House Wins An Emmy

    The PBS home improvement series This Old House won the Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Program at the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles . This Old House was awarded for an episode of its New Orleans project, which featured the rebuilding of a c. 1892 Creole-style shotgun home in the Lower Ninth Ward that had been damaged in Hurricane Katrina. Other nominees in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category were “The Martha Stewart Show,” “Flip This House,” “Clean House” and “Peter Perfect.”

  • TIME.com Launches iPhone App

    TIME.com launched a free iPhone App in September, offering users access to up-to-the-minute news, top photos of the day, TIME.com’s Best and Worst lists, its popular blogs including Swampland, Tuned In and The Curious Capitalist, and video content. This follows the recent launch of TIME’s BlackBerry App, which has been downloaded over 100,000 times.

  • Cooking Light Unveils Redesign with September Issue

    Cooking Light unveiled a redesign with its September issue that included a cleaner, easier to navigate layout and more quick and healthy recipes. New columns include “Taste Test”, “Stress Less”, “Nutrition Made Easy” and “Recipe Makeover”, where editors take classic recipes and make them over to be lighter and healthier.
