  • Laura Lang named CEO of Time Inc.

    Time Warner announced Laura Lang as the new CEO of Time Inc., effective January 9, 2012. Lang previously served as CEO of Digitas. Time Warner's announcement can be found here.

  • Time Inc. on Tablets

    On December 30, Health and People en Español became the last two titles in the Time Inc. portfolio to launch on the tablet platform. This successfully concludes an initiative announced by Time Inc. in August to launch all 21 U.S. brands on tablet by the end of the 2011. To date, Time Inc. brands are available to consumers on Apple's iPad, the Barnes & Noble NOOK Color and NOOK Tablet, the Android Marketplace and Next Issue Media's store. Current subscribers will have access to Time Inc. magazines in tablet form as part of the "All Access" subscription model implemented earlier this year.

  • PEOPLE Reveals Sexiest Man Alive

    PEOPLE named Bradley Cooper the "Sexiest Man Alive 2011" in a special double issue which marks the 26th edition of the franchise. The issue featured a "RetroSexual" spread, highlighting some of TV's funniest men transported back into time, including the Saturday Night Live cast recreating the famous 1930s photo of construction workers taking a lunch break on a steel beam high above Manhattan and the men of Parks and Recreation channeling the Rat Pack. In anticipation of the announcement, the brand launched a "Funny is the New Sexy" campaign exclusively for PEOPLE.com, featuring funny guys Joel McHale, Ty Burrell, Seth MacFarlane and Kevin Hart "sexifying" everyday tasks.

  • Sports Illustrated Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year

    Sports Illustrated honored the University of Tennessee's Pat Summitt and Duke University's Mike Krzyzewski as Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year. This is the third time the magazine has named college basketball coaches for this honor. Summit and Krzyzewski, who have set the record as the most winningest college basketball coaches were honored at a banquet in New York on December 6.

  • TIME Names Person of the Year

    On December 14, TIME announced "The Protester," as the 2011 Person of the Year on NBC's Today Show. The annual issue featured an essay by TIME contributor Kurt Andersen and more than 50 portraits of protesters from around the world. For the fifth consecutive year, TIME compiled the Person of the Year Short List featuring Ai Wei Wei, Paul Ryan, Kate Middleton and Admiral William McRaven who provided an exclusive interview with TIME's Barton Gellman. The Time.com Person of the Year package helped the site achieve its third best day of traffic, 20% of which was driven by social networks. Plus, for the first time ever, "TIME" and "Person of the Year" were trending topics in New York, the United States and globally at the same time.

  • PEOPLE Hits Three Million Followers on Twitter

    PEOPLE became the first magazine to surpass three million followers on Twitter. Breaking celebrity news and PEOPLE exclusives are conducive to the platform and resonate with followers, which has helped the brand achieve this milestone. The brand has also experienced notable success on other social media platforms - PEOPLE has over 1.3 million likes on Facebook and is currently the #1 magazine brand on Foursquare.



  • Adweek Hot List

    For Ad Week's annual Hot List, TIME took top honors as the Hottest Overall Magazine and the Hottest General Interest Magazine, PEOPLE was recognized as the Hottest Entertainment/Celebrity Magazine and Departures was honored as the Hottest Travel Magazine. The first-ever Readers' Choice poll confirmed Time Inc.'s excellence with wins for six Time Inc. brands: TIME received the Reader's Choice in the General Interest category, Travel + Leisure took the Travel category, All You in the Women's category, Sports Illustrated in the Sports category, Cooking Light in the Food category and PEOPLE took the Entertainment/Celebrity category.
     

     
  • Real Simple Holiday Pop-Up Shop

    On December 8, Real Simple opened its second annual Holiday Pop-Up Shop in New York City's Bryant Park. In the first four days, more than 23,300 people visited the 4,000-square-foot shop. The shop featured gift ideas from Real Simple's holiday gift guide, Real Simple branded books and items from the Real Simple Solutions product line as well as a host of celebrity appearances, including Mario Batali, Gail Simmons, Dylan Lauren and Todd English. The Real Simple Holiday Pop-Up Shop was presented by Citi and DonorsChoose.org was the official charity partner.
